However, it is obvious that nobody ever did basic barf test on viewers because this is one ugly group of people. It hurts my eyes to watch. I myself am at best a 2 but then again my face isn't plastered on a 55" screen either. The over the top mincing queen behavior is intolerable. I am gay but really, do we need massive stereotypes with over reacting personalities in front of us.
I will leave the TV off thank you. Okay, I'm not a soap watcher and couldn't care less that one has been cancelled. It probably is unfortunate that The Chew replaced a soap, time slot-wise. If you're expecting a soap, The Chew is not going to make you happy.
The fun interaction between the 5 hosts and the range of cooking, decorating, and health tips really make this an enjoyable show to watch when I have the time. The hosts have a great time together and present a nice range of ideas and opinions. The only reason I can see for all the poor ratings is that people are upset about losing the soap opera that used to be in this time slot. Nice to fire many actors and actresses that have brought pleasure and happiness during the years of the soaps.
If you want to cook, get a cookbook. I give everything a chance; take it from me, skip this show ArtBuff86 4 November I will confess, I have watched All My Children before but I wasn't a long time viewer or anything- I just appreciate the genre and think highly of it, despite the cultural stigma ; I'd watch the soaps when I was home, sick from school, or on holiday.
Frankly, my review of 'The Chew' doesn't really have much to do with the soaps, except to say that it is an utter shame that something so preciously multi-generational and meaningful in TV history- not to mention to countless fans- was replaced by something so insulting.
I just feel insulted by 'The Chew'. I don't understand how this show could ever captivate people? It certainly didn't captivate me. I watched the first episode with an open mind; it was fake and contrived and boring, to be honest.
I can't imagine 'The Chew' ever lasting more than a year or two. I watched it a total of 3 times and that was quite a task, not turning it off! The premise of this show is meaningless and the show itself is lifeless. There are countless food channels, which I turn on occasionally, but these hosts are not 'stars' nor are they authority figures of any sort.
This show is not an art form either. It's plain meaningless and hard to watch. Maybe this show is a way of passing the time by while saving money, but it certainly does not help me- as a viewer- 'pass the time by' nor does it entertain or inform. Don't waste your time; I already wasted too much of my own time giving 'The Chew' a chance. By far the worst show on all of TV. I can't wait until its gone. I have watched the show several times. Most of the time I cannot make myself watch the entire show.
Most of the time it is so annoying that you just can't watch the entire show. I have no idea what Mrs. Hall use to do what ever it was I hope she did it better that she does on the view. The only thing that I can come up with that she would could be a witch for Halloween, only part time work but she would fit the part. Now as for the rest of the crew, what a joke. Very poorly done form slob looking outfits. To the 70's style hair with the nice roots shine in the studio lights.
Who puts crap like this on this network. Im in love with that big awesome mortar and pestle. Tell me where I can get one. I've been able to find it on Amazon but they are out with no promise it will be restocked. I have several in my collection, which I use frequently. I simply must have one like that! Can you help me in my search? I'm wanting to see some shortbread cookies demonstrated by one of the awesome iron chefs or both that would be great.
I make mine in spring form pans and use my homemade vanilla and vanilla sugar or pure almond extract and amaretto, topped with the fine sugar matching the flavorings.
I would like to see variations I could try. I usually don't leave them in the oven till they'll be crunchy, I like them soft and moist in the center. I love "The chew" its the perfect combination of personalities.
Thank you. Lori Williamson Thank you. Lori Williamson. I love The Chew. Its a very informative and fun show. Overall experience was a let down and seemed like the show itself was just a filler. So sorry to hear you had such a disappointing experience! I agree that the comedian was super great… he was fantastic with the audience while my wife and I were there as well. And Carla was definitely the most interactive out of all the hosts with us as well.
The show was very grateful to the audience for dressing up the year that we went, but I think that is because it was the first oscar show they ever did.
Linda, I was there too for the taping. I agree with you, dissapointing. They should of had a give away or a celeberity guest. Rc Smith was the best part. Sorry that it was a disappointing time for you both. I agree that RC Smith was totally awesome! We have to remember that they tape shows for money. I have been to many tapings, the Chew twice — always had a nice experience once you realize you are there watching it as if you were at home watching it.
My most disappointing show was the Rachel Ray show. No celebrity s and No give a ways — oh wait, we got an old copy of her Every Day magazine! Now the Wendy Williams show and The View are two great shows for audience participation. You just have to keep going if you really like the shows, if not, stay home and watch from the comfort of your own home!!
My husband and I attended a taping yesterday and found the entire process very enjoyable. RC was great, and we found ALL the cohosts to be warm and friendly. Carla and Clinton were the most interactive with us in the audience but they ALL smiled, waved and made us feel welcomed. Thanks for a wonderful experience! So glad you had a fun experience at The Chew! And I agree with you… Clinton and Carla are by far the more interactive with everyone in the audience.
Did Carla come over and start dancing?! Was also very disappointed with taping of the Rachael Ray show! We were told it was the last taping of the season.
What a disappointment that we were in the audience for just a bunch of filler segments. No guest star. Really surprised you dont get to see a whole show taped from beginning to end. We are four retired ladies who go to tapings of TV shows and the best ones so far were Anderson Cooper and after five yrs of waiting we saw Rachel Ray.
She is a real person comes out in the audience and talks to people. But find it very hard to get tickets to her show. We have seen Regis and Kelly and The View.
I requested tickets for the Chew about a month ago-I requested dates the first week in Oct. I know they are just starting their new season so maybe just getting organized, but how much longer should it be before I would hear something? Would it hurt my chances if I resubmitted my request?
I really want to go!!! I just attended one taping myself a couple years back. I remember them getting back to me after about a month of waiting, so hopefully soon! Hoping you get the chance to attend! And if you do, enjoy! I wish to attend the lifestyle show and watch many interesting things about cooking and also about entertaining people.
The Chew's final season was still pulling in 2. That might not seem like much, but that was just one slice of the ratings pie.
Among its key audience of women , ratings had dipped 13 percent. Then again, the world of television is different than it was when the show first premiered. Now people can watch their favorite shows whenever they want with streaming. So how much weight do ratings even carry? Not much, according to Hall, who feels ratings weren't the deal-breaker. That might be partly true, but it's probably safe to assume if a show was dead last with Nielsen's ratings, it probably wasn't number one in streaming.
Mario Batali was the most recognizable face when The Chew debuted in , and he stayed with the program until December When numerous women came forward and accused the celebrity chef of sexual misconduct over several decades, ABC announced that it had terminated its relationship with him.
No charges were ultimately filed. Having your most famous co-host abruptly leave the show following something like possible sexual assault is never a good thing.
To her credit, Carla Hall said that herself and her co-stars remained positive about the change. Initially, Batali's departure didn't cause a ratings plummet either. In the week before the accusations came out, the show's season seven-day averages were , women Following his leave they were around , viewers.
That's not to say that Batali's departure didn't hurt The Chew. When he left the show, ABC essentially lost the six years worth of episodes that they could use as reruns. This also meant that earlier seasons of the show probably wouldn't be sold to other cooking channels or be shown on ABC Family. Daytime talk shows seem to mix up their co-hosts on a regular basis, but The Chew's cast remained constant from In August , just before Batali's departure, longtime cast member Daphne Oz said goodbye after six seasons.
Oz said she left the show to focus on her new baby and being a mom to her other young children. Fans can only speculate whether Oz felt the show's time was winding down, but her absence, along with Batali's soon after, certainly changed the dynamic of the show.
Creator and executive producer of the show, Gordon Elliott said of Oz that the "moment she sat at the table with Mario, Clinton, Michael and Carla, I knew we had a great television show.
