You're not alone. I've been there. Just last year, I was battling a potential rainy Halloween night myself and was freaking out just a tiny bit about my kids not being able to trick-or-treat. But do you know what happened? Two things — it stopped raining before sundown, and my kids had a blast jumping in many a puddle with their rubber boots. In the case of absolutely horrendous thunderstorms where an umbrella and a raincoat just won't cut it, having a backup plan is another way to ensure that your kids can still trick-or-treat on Halloween night.
Of course, activity availability will vary, but most communities typically have some sort of indoor Halloween activity for families to enjoy on Oct. Children years old are invited to wear their costumes and enjoy seasonal snacks and stories at the Staunton Public Library. More information is available on the community calendar. Swannanoa is opening for their second annual kid-friendly Halloween celebration. Kids in costume will make their way through the main level of the house and collect goodies. There will be glitter tattoos, face painting an other activities. Boo Bash at the Staunton Mall: p. The Staunton Mall will host their annual Boo Bash with trick-or-treating, a costume contest and a haunted house.
The Haunted house will open at 4 p. The Boo Bash will be held Thursday, but the outdoor trunk-or-treat was moved to Sunday. Free admission, donations welcome. They will be transforming the squad building into a haunted house for all to enjoy. More information is available on their Facebook page. Trick-or-treating will be suspended if there is an emergency call.
The Stuarts Draft Volunteer Fire Company will be opening its doors to trick-or-treaters on Friday because of the inclement weather Thursday. The Staunton-Augusta Junior Rescue Squad will open their doors and offer treats, crafts and ambulance tours to visitors. More information is on their Facebook page.
